🎓 Education
Wake County Public Schools saw a 3.8% boost in testing scores and higher graduation rates in the 2025-26 school year, with Fuquay-Varina High School recording a 14% increase.
Educators said that reviewing state standards and focusing on student engagement helped students improve in math and biology.
At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Wake County school board approved (by an 8-1 vote) policies for one weekly hour of off-campus religious instruction with parental permission and for a community media advisory committee to review book challenges.
The board will consider these policies at a second reading soon.
